1 - Start EC-NET-AX - Start / All Programs / Distech Controls EC-NET-AX (version).
2 - In EC-NET-AX, go to File / Open / Open Platform.
3 - Connect to the EC-BOSAX using the default IP address. A quick way to remember the default addreess is:
EC-BOS-2AX and EC-BOS-6AX = 192.168.1.12X - X being the last digit of the serial number which is under the cover of the EC-BOSAX.
EC-BOS-403AX and EC-BOS-545AX = 192.168.1.14X - X being the last digit of the serial number which is under the cover of the EC-BOSAX.
4 - The Following pop-up will appear:
- Enter the default IP address in the HOST section and then Enter the Username and Password in the Credentials section.
The default credentials for an EC-BOSAX is not the Windows log-in as is the case for a soft EC-BOSAX but rather:
5 - Comissioning the EC-BOSAX (MANDATORY). Now that you are connected to the EC-BOSAX go to Platform Administration.
- click on Commissioning, this will launch the Commissioning Wizard.
Accept the default settings but make sure you set the Content Filter to UI + Runtime. The EC-BOSAX comes out of the factory with minimal configuration so failing to do this steop might result in blocking access to the device.
Be sure to transfer the NRE file, now at this point you will be given the choice to transfer a station. This is the actual database, the one that you would have previously developed and tested on your PC. Click Proceed.
6- Installing the Distribution Files
The Distribution File Installer will complete the work that started with the Commissioning Wizard. You will install many important files and various Distechmodules needed to run the Distech Controls products correctly- Access the Distribution File Installer through the Platform
- Browse to the correct folder "C:/niagara/EC-NET-AX-(version)/Distech Controls Files" by clicking on "Choose Folder"
- Proceed with the installation
- A progress window the advancement of the installation process. Click on Close. Your EC-BOSAX is not ready to perfom adequately.

Setting up the network IP address using the Serial Shell
You can connect to the EC-BOSAX using the serial connection. This is a practical way of accessing the system shell of the device if you cannot use th LAN connection. You first need to configure the EC-BOSAX for tis procedure.
1 - Remove the Power to the EC-BOSAX.
2 - Disconnect the battery.
3 - Place the jumper in the Serial position.
4 - Connect to the EC-BOSAX with a null-modem cable using one of the COM ports on the computer and the RS-232 connector on the EC-BOSAX.
5 - Power up the unit.
Using the hyper terminal application in Windows, connect to the EC-BOSAX.
6 - Start Hyper Terminal - Start / All Programs / Accessories / Communication / Hyper Terminal
7 - Setup your connection - Name your connection - Choose the port you are connecting from - Select the proper baud rate EC-BOS-2 & 6AX = 152000 EC-BOS-403 & 545AX = 57600
8 - Click ENTER and type in your credentials
Login = distech
Password = controls
9 - You will be prompted to make a choice. In this case we are going to set the IP address for NET1 so choose option 2 - Update Network Settings
10- Enter the IP address in the proper field. Click ENTER to go through the rest of the settings.
11 - Accept the configuration by clicking ENTER. If you are finished making changes then select 7 - Reboot.
