In SmartInstaller, when installing a new version of EC-NetAX Pro, you will be asked which version you wish to install depending on the operating system (OS) you are currently running; 32-bit or 64-bit. If you are running a 64-bit version OS, SmartInstaller will display a window asking you to select the EC-NetAX Pro version you wish to install (see figure below).
This is where it becomes important to know which version of EC-NetAX Pro you are currently running, because if your current version is a 32-bit, and you select to install a 64-bit version, or vice versa, you will end up with an additional host ID and therefore you will need a new license. However, if your OS is a 32-bit version, then SmartInstaller will automatically install the 32-bit version of EC-NetAX Pro, because in general you cannot run a 64-bit application on a 32-bit operating system.
To identify the version of EC-NetAX Pro you are currently running:
1. Open EC-NetAX Pro.
2. Connect to the Platform and open the Platform Administration.
3. If the Niagara Runtime and JVM ends with x86 then you are running a 32-bit version of EC-NetAX Pro and if it ends with x64 then you are running a 64-bit version. The example below, shows a 32-bit version of EC-NetAX Pro:
